When is Hair the Weakest?

September 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments · 597 views

If you get out of the shower and start on your hair with your comb or brush, you could be making a very big mistake. Hair is actually the weakest when it is wet. So when you get out of the shower and start to comb through your hair you could be breaking your hair off at that point.

The same goes for men getting out of the shower and using a towel to “frantically” try to dry their hair. Even though men usually keep their hair shorter, they are also prone to hair breakage from trying to dry the hair vigorously with a towel.

What you should do?

When you get out of the shower, hold off with the brush or comb until the hair is dry. For men, you might want to simply take a blow dryer to it on a low setting and dry it that way. In the long run, you will see healthier hair and there will also be less chance of your hair breaking off.

For woman with long, thicker hair, you might want to try a leave in conditioner and just let your hair air dry over night before you try to brush through it.
